Description

In a deregulated electricity market, there are separate generator companies and transmission company. The generator companies use the transmission system for wheeling power to loads. Active-power losses arise in the power transmission. Active-power losses represent one of the components for electricity pricing. There is a need to allocate active-power losses amongst the market participants (generators and consumers). Solution schemes for the loss allocation have to be fair and equitable. At present, there are various schemes adopted by different energy markets. The objectives of the project are:
  • to perform a critical evaluation of the existing loss allocation methods.
  • to propose new methods for loss allocation for addressing the deficiencies or drawbacks of the existing methods.
Steady-state network analysis including power-flow analysis will be required in the project.
